Tips and tricks to prevent glasses fogging

Are you one of the many people suffering from foggy glasses while wearing your face mask? Here’s some ideas to help prevent it.

A tight mask works best, pinched firmly on your nose to reduce the hot air escaping from your mask. Another way to help block any escaping air is by folding up a tissue into a skinny length and inserting it inside the mask, across your nose. This will also help to absorb any moisture created from breathing. I have seen many of our creative patients using paperclips or bobby pins to help hold the tissue in place.

Anti-fog gel or spray is also a winner if you can find some. Many suppliers are experiencing a shortage as you can imagine, so if you see some grab it while you can! In my opinion the gel buffed into the back and front of your lenses is the best option, however different brands and formulas will prove different results. Do not expect that anti-fog solutions will completely solve your problems but they will definitely help.

Regular cleaning of your glasses is always recommended but now more than ever as we are living in our face masks. If your glasses fog up, all the smudges and dust on your lenses will be magnified and make your vision 10x worse. You can rinse your glasses under cool or lukewarm water and use a mild dishwashing liquid or soap. Polish the lenses with a spectacle spray and your cleaning cloth.

And that’s it! Do all this and you should be able wear a mask and see, without worrying about falling down the steps.
